Alcohol delivery in Amsterdam: how it works, how late, and the rules

Inside Slijterij United Liquors, Amsterdam — bottle shelves with the street visible through the doorway

You're at an apartment or hotel in the centre, the evening's getting going, and you'd rather not walk back out for another bottle. Good news: in central Amsterdam you can have beer, spirits, wine and mixers brought to your door — and it's straightforward once you know the basics.

How it works

At Slijterij United Liquors we deliver across central Amsterdam via Thuisbezorgd. You browse the menu, add what you want, enter your address, and pay online — the order comes to you during shop hours. You can see the live menu and order here, or start from our delivery section.

What you can order

Pretty much the shop, delivered: spirits (whisky, vodka, gin, rum, tequila), wine and bubbles, beer, soft drinks and mixers, plus cups, ice-friendly extras and snacks. Planning a party? It's often easiest to message us first so we can help you put a sensible setup together — see how to reach us.

How late can you get it?

Delivery runs the same hours as the shop — every day, 11:00–22:00. There's an important legal detail, though: under Dutch law, no alcohol is sold (in store or delivered) after 22:00. So aim to order with a little buffer before closing rather than at 21:58.

Paying

Online orders are paid at checkout, typically with iDEAL (the standard Dutch payment method) and the usual cards. In the shop itself you can also pay cash, contactless or PIN.

The 18+ rule (yes, on delivery too)

The legal age to buy alcohol in the Netherlands is 18, and that applies to delivery exactly as it does in store. The driver can ask to see ID on the doorstep, and an order can be refused if age can't be confirmed — so have your ID ready, and make sure an adult is there to receive it.

A few tips for a smooth delivery

  • Get the address details right — apartment number, floor, buzzer. Central Amsterdam's canal houses are charming and confusing.
  • Order before the rush — Friday and Saturday evenings are busy; a little earlier means a faster drop-off.
  • Not sure what to get? Tell us the occasion and headcount and we'll suggest a mix — beer, a couple of spirits, mixers and cups.

Prefer to pop in instead? We're two minutes from Centraal, open every day until 22:00.
